The new mobile phone detection cameras across Adelaide are now live and actively issuing fines to drivers caught using their phones illegally. Installed at high-traffic locations, these AI-powered cameras aim to reduce driver distraction and make our roads safer.
Fixed Mobile Phone Camera Locations
The cameras have been strategically placed along major Adelaide corridors to cover high-risk and high-traffic areas, including:
- Southern Expressway at Darlington
- South Road at Torrensville
- North-South Motorway at Regency Park
- Port Road at Hindmarsh
- Port Wakefield Road at Gepps Cross
Fines and Penalties
Drivers caught by these cameras now face immediate penalties. The current fine for illegal mobile phone use while driving is $540, plus a $99 victims of crime levy, along with three demerit points. These fines are automatically issued to offenders following verification by SA Police. The mobile phone detection cameras issued 2500 fines in the first week of them going live.
